Is your Virginia business ready to develop international trade? According to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), 60% of small to midsized companies do business in more than six countries. There’s a world of opportunity for small business exports. VEDP programs and trade partners like Dunlap Law can help you develop an international market for your goods and services.
Dunlap Law Joins Elite Cadre of International Trade Partners
In June, VEDP welcomed Dunlap Law as one of only a few law firms officially designated as “Trade Partners” for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) International Trade program. VEDP provides direct support to Virginia companies often at little to no cost. Each year, its VALET program accepts 25 companies into a two-year business acceleration program that provides the expertise and capital necessary to get started and overcome barriers to international trade.
Dunlap Law’s focus will be on helping businesses navigate international trademarks and data security and privacy. To support this effort, attorney Bernard Pike, Principal of Pike IP Law will work collaboratively with the Dunlap Law team. A registered patent attorney and specialist in international intellectual property law, Bernie is Of Counsel to Dunlap Law and will be an invaluable legal resource to our clients.
Tap into the Benefits of Small Business Exports
As a small independent law firm, we appreciate the challenges Virginia small businesses face in developing international trade opportunities. With VEDP support, however, the benefits are compelling. With help from the VEDP, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and Reservoir Distillery have developed their export business. Business is thriving and boosting Virginia’s economy.
According to a recent article by the Greater Richmond Partnership, Virginia-made goods and services are purchased by customers in 214 countries and territories, including Canada, the United Kingdom and China. Virginia’s exports have grown at an average annual rate of 2.0% since 2007.
Join Us in Expanding Virginia’s Horizons
We are thrilled to be an official VEDP Trade Partner. On July 10th and 11th, we celebrated the VALET class of 2019’s graduation at The Boathouse in Richmond and the launch of the 2021 VALET cohort.
