Dunlap Law Bill Ten Give One Logo

As founding principal of Dunlap Law, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of Bill Ten, Give One. It is our innovative new program that grants pro bono legal services to entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds. Therefore, every ten hours Dunlap Law bills to its clients, we will give away one hour of legal counsel to a hopeful, bootstrapping business owner nurtured by UnboundRVA.

UnBoundRVA provides workshops and classes that empower entrepreneurs from low-income backgrounds to open their own businesses and transform their lives. Since 2014, the non-profit has launched 12 Richmond-area businesses with the support of volunteers and community partners.

Pro Bono Services To Balance Profit with Social & Environmental Performance

As the first Virginia or DC Law firm to earn Certified B Corp status, balancing profit with social and environmental performance is part of our business model.  As a result, we’ve joined a global business community that acknowledges our mutual interdependence. B Corps such as PatagoniaBen & Jerry’sAthletaCabot CreameryKing Arthur Flour, Allbirds, and Dunlap Law use the power of business to build a regenerative economy that creates shared and durable prosperity for everyone.

This fall, I attended B Lab’s 2019 Champions Retreat in Los Angeles. B Lab challenged us as business leaders to select, measure, and advance our actions according to the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) adopted by the United Nations Member StatesBill Ten, Give One supports SDG #1 – no poverty, SDG #5 – gender equality, and SDG #8 – decent work and economic growth.

At its best, business in America has always been an expression of freedom, a path to wealth and prosperity, and a force for good for the larger society. While in our cynical era, that idea might seem old-fashioned, but at Dunlap Law we believe it. With the Bill Ten, Give One program, we’re committing Dunlap Law’s future to support the SDG’s and build a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable economy.

Their businesses range from BBQ catering, to a gourmet hot sauce called River City Flame, to lawn care, childcare, beard care, and a unique tempeh recipe.
