Why the zebra?
In 2017, four women CEO’s realized that the startup Holy Grail of founding a “unicorn” fundamentally distorts capitalism by rewarding consumption instead of creation, quick exits over sustainable growth, and shareholder return over shared prosperity.
Instead, they articulated a future full of “zebras.” Zebra companies are both black and white. They are profitable and improve society, rather than sacrificing one for the other. Like B Corps, Zebra companies band together to protect and support one another through interdependence. Their collective strength benefits all. Zebra companies run the distance with stamina and efficiency.
Dunlap Law is proud to be a Zebra.

Virginia Women in Venture
Tricia Dunlap serves on the Advisory Board of Virginia Women in Venture, a Richmond-based nonprofit. WiV helps women entrepreneurs access angel, venture, and private equity in the Commonwealth and use these resources for wealth management and growth.
Story Excerpt: “At a B Corp event in October, 2017, Tricia Dunlap listened as Angela Patton, Executive Director of Girls For A Change, urged Richmond-area B Corps to help her make “black girls ready for the world, and the world ready for black girls.” Tricia reached out to Angela and asked how Dunlap Law could support GFAC’s mission. The result? A win-win. Angela connected Tricia to Camryn, a GFAC alumna, and Tricia knew right away that both Dunlap Law and Camryn would benefit from a paid summer internship.”
